The Department of Commerce, in this institution right from its inception from the Academic year 1988-89, is functioning with the vision and mission of
- Creating new and young entrepreneurs.
- Moulding students in pursuing higher studies including civil services.
- Getting placement for the students who want employment immediately.
The department not only teach the curriculum but ensure that the gap between what is taught in the college and what is
practiced in industry is bridged by arranging three weeks industrial training for students in leading banks, insurance companies, joint-stock companies and public sector.
Frequent guest lectures, seminars, conferences are arranged and industrialists are invited to address the students.
The M.O.U., the college has
with Anna University, has further ensured that students of this department
are getting computer education too at reduced rates.
The department became a full-fledged research department offering full time and part time M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes
from the academic year 2000-2001. The department also provides UGC sponsored Career Oriented Programmes
in addition to regular programmes to help students competent enough to face the
challenges.
